For the second time in six months we made another trip to the ER with Aurora. Mark got a call while at work from her preschool, "We found Aurora unconscious on the playground. We don't know how long she was down. She has a temperature of 103.3 and is unresponsive. We're sending her by ambulance to the hospital." Mark ran out of work and met the ambulance which he followed down to Children's Hospital in Dallas. Meanwhile, I return home from running errands, check the phone and see that there are six unanswered calls from Mark and the school, and call Mark to see what's up. I jump back in the car, drop Allegra off at Keri's and drive like a maniac downtown, get lost multiple times (as usual) and finally get there to find that everything is fine. She had a febrile seizure which just means she had a fever that when up too fast (probably because she was playing on the playground, wearing a sweater and heavy jacket on a nice day) and passed out. There are no repercussions or side effects. They do run in the family so I was aware of them, but they stop occurring by age five so we thought we were off the hook. Anyway, she was back to normal by the time we got home that afternoon, even though we wish she was a little groggy because we were wiped out! What a way to spend a Thursday afternoon!

Ohmygoodness, Carrie!!! How frightening!!!! I'm glad she is okay now! And golly...it is COLD there!!!
What I don't understand is WHY the heck did her preschool not know how long she was out for. That doesn't seem very responsible. Sheesh. I think I'd be ticked. I am so glad she is okay. That is terribly scary! :(
Josh and I totally agree with Amber about the preschool! I would be very ticked! Anyhow, glad the cute lil' girl is fine, and hope you and Mark are too! That is very scary!
glad she is okay and feeling better
Carrie...Get a cell phone! I know, I know...Rick doesn't have one, but when the kids are in school...there are valid reasons for having a cell phone...namely they might need to reach you! So glad Aurora is okay. I got a text at school from my mom and we were studying seizures at that very moment! Crazy coincidences!
