Princesses for a Day

When I was four, I remember watching Prince Charles and Diana get married. I decided it was important for my four and two year olds to experience history in the making so that they can say, "I remember when . . . ". So we declared today Princess day and watched all six hours of royal coverage, definitely not at three in the morning and with a lot of fast forwarding, of course.

We dressed up in our princess finery

Our royal menu
Breakfast
Berry Banana smoothies
English muffins with lemon curd and strawberry preserves

Snacks
Jelly Bean Jewels
Princess fruit snacks

Lunch
Heart shaped egg salad sandwiches
Fruit scepters
Pink milk (because pink is the favorite color of princess, says Aurora)

Favorite quotes from the ceremony:
“Be who God wants you to be and you will set the world on fire.”
St. Catherine of Sienna

“In a sense, every wedding is a royal wedding, with the bride and groom as king and queen of creation, making a new life together so that life can flow through them into the future.”
Rev. Chartres

I loved all the opportunities I had to teach my girls about royal history, how one becomes a princess, the royalty in our family history, princess etiquette, and what it means to be a daughter of God. We truly felt like princesses today!
