The Graduate

Today was my cousin Ryan's graduation from COC. Aurora loves Ryan! So much, that she wants to be just like him. When asked if she was graduating today too, she answered, "Yeah!" When asked where her cap and gown were she said, "I don't know!" She was quite disappointed when we told her they don't make gowns for people under three feet! Congrats Ryan!

Catch up

Wow time goes fast when you stay at home! At least for me! Mark was at a conference in San Jose for four days this week so we had some good girl time and I worked on projects that had been bugging me for months/years. Special thanks to my Dad who came over to help with the sprinklers and ended up weeding half my backyard! You're the best!

Aurora and I had a fantastic family home evening. It's amazing how much she is grasping. Usually she has an attention span of two minutes. We started with some pictures of temples from the Gospel Art Kit. I didn't even have to remind her what they were--she remembered and pointed out each temple. She wasn't bored yet so we looked at wedding pictures and she pointed out all the family members and temples. That's one of her favorite activities. But she still wasn't bored and wanted to look at more pictures so we pulled out more from the GAK--the Creation, Adam and Eve, Noah, Daniel and the Lions, Joseph Smith, and Jesus. FHE lasted HALF AN HOUR! It was amazing! I can't believe how fast she is growing and learning. It really is humbling.

Last night, after picking up Mark at the Burbank airport, we stopped at our favorite sub sandwich place, Santoro's, that my family has been going to FOREVER. This was Aurora's third visit and now she is totally into it. About half an hour after dinner, I asked her what we had to eat and she said "meatball!" I asked her if she liked meatballs and she said, "Meatball is yummy!" That's my girl!

Piano Recital

This past Saturday was my annual piano recital. All my students did a fantastic job and I am so proud of them! Future duet partners!

A Sweet Tooth

Somehow my little girl developed a sweet tooth. Okay, it's in her blood, passed down from generation to generation, so there was really no hope of avoiding it. She loves ice cream." Come on dad--I see more in there! I'll lick the bowl for you!"
Notice in the next pictures that she is wearing the same outfit. This next incident happened earlier the same night. While were were finishing dinner, Aurora somehow grabbed a cookie high up on the table. There were no chairs nearby and I have no idea how she did it. She walked right up to me in the dining room and stood by my leg with this look like she was saying, "Look Mom. I got a cookie."
Then she ran to "hide" under the high chair as if we couldn't see her to enjoy her spoils. She cracks me up!

Getting a little sun

So one challenge of being a SAHM at my house is keeping Aurora quiet during the day so Mark can sleep. As a consequence, one of her new favorite word is "owside." Thank goodness for the backyard!

Aurora takes after Nana and her great-grandmas as an avid gardener. I can't wait until she can pull weeds! Her birthday present came a little early. We needed something else to keep her entertained back there. So far it's working.
Mark even got a thank you for his efforts!
