Happy Birthday Aurora

Aurora turned 2 years old on Tuesday. Her cousin Mackenzie decorated her birthday cake. She did a fabulous job.

Apparently, contrary to prior belief, Aurora likes cake and ice cream. That is quite amazing given that neither family really enjoys cake or ice cream. Ok, so Carrie has a little bit of a sweet tooth. Family came and celebrated the event with us. Thanks to everyone for coming.

Allegra Rose Lisonbee

As you can see, we have ourselves another heavy weight baby. Allegra is one ounce less than her sister. One inch shorter too (Aurora was 19 inches tall, Allegra was 18 inches tall).

It was nice of Carrie to deliver at 12:01am, since I am used to being up at that hour for work anyways. Good planning sweetheart. I am glad you took my schedule into account. Of course, Carrie was given In-N-Out afterwards to help replenish her strength.
Baby Allegra is all dressed in her first outfit and doesn't she look cute. She was given a decent amount of hair for a newborn and her face is definately on the red side.
Finally, she is packed up in her car seat and ready to go cruising in daddy's car. She can't wait to come her and see her big sister.

A ROSE by any other name

When last I left off, I was admitted to the hospital at 10:00am yesterday, with Cervidel placed at 11:00am on July 17th. By 3:00pm, I was having contractions that I figured weren't helping me progress much. My hopes remained low because the doctor said I would be examined at 11:00pm. My contractions continued to increase in strength and frequency. By 9:00 pm, I received my epidural and boy was I grateful. By 10:00pm, I was dilated to a 5. By 11:30pm I was fully dilated. The doctor was called and the nurses stalled the pushing until 11:57pm. Allegra Rose Lisonbee was born at 12:01am on July 18th. We wanted her to be born after midnight, that way I could stay in the hospital and rest one more day. She is 5 lbs 15 ounces and 18 inches tall. Her hair looks like it may be curly. Pictures to follow.

I'm in!

Blood pressure was back up at my appointment today so I was sent to the hospital. I'm currently trying to type this on a tv screen from my hospital bed. Hopefully we'll see Allegra tommorrow. That's all for now, my finger is tired.

No Luck

I think the last few weeks of this pregnancy have been a comedy of errors. Mark and I were all excited to go to my appointment Monday only to get a call that the doctor's office flooded over the weekend! How crazy is that! My non-stress test was moved to the hospital but my doctor wouldn't be there. Well, that stressed me out and Mark's mom called over to discuss with the nurses (gosh, it's so nice to have an "in") and we came up with a game plan.

So I went over to the hospital and surprise, my doctor was there! I wanted to give her a big hug but unfortunately was all tangled in wires. Anyway, my blood pressure was DOWN! How is that possible after all that? I'm not dialated, not thinning--nothing! So in order to avoid three days of induced labor, again, my doctor has decided to wait. I'm on bedrest, so I probably shouldn't be blogging right now, but that's the latest. No baby yet. I go back in on Thursday.

Gosh word travels fast!

So, yes the rumors are true--Baby Allegra MIGHT be here as early as next week. My blood pressure is going up a little--nothing dangerous. But my doctor is very cautious and since Allegra is full term today, why not? I'm going back to the doctor on Monday and so we'll see what happens.

My new addiction

My favorite food is ice cream. It's hereditary. I can't help it. And even though I'm pregnant and it's hot and I have the perfect excuse to eat it every night, the scale tells me otherwise. So when Tammy was here and reminded me of the deliciousness that is Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf's Pure Chocolate, I thought, "Why can't I make this at home whenever I want instead of hauling myself down there and paying four dollars a cup?"

So now I do. It's ridiculously easy. One cup milk. Five to six ice cubes. One packet of Land O'Lakes hot chocolate mix (just because that's what I had on hand). Blend. Voila! Pure Chocolate at home every other night (Don't think I gave up ice cream all together!)

Oh how I love thee, SCV

Sure, your housing prices are insane. Sure, it's a million degrees this week. Sure, it sometimes takes fifteen minutes to get through the intersection at Bouquet/Valencia/San Fernando/Soledad. But Saturday night, you reminded me why I'm still here. We went to the Concert in the Park with family. We ate KFC on a picnic blanket on the grass. We listened to the SCV Symphony play Broadway. Bluegrass, and Patriotic music. By 8:00, it cooled down to . . . I don't know what, but this prego lady was in heaven. You could chat and play games and get up from your lawn chair whenever you wanted even if it was to chase the kiddies around. There was no line for the bathroom. And best of all, it was all FREE! Take that Hollywood Bowl! (Don't get me wrong, I still love you, HB but this was just in a different league!)

Little Miss Fourth of July

Independence Day in SCV was Hot Hot Hot! We headed over to Grandma and Grandpa T's to beat the heat in their new backyard with Auntie Annie and Spencer and the Millers. The Froggy Pool was a big hit! We even had our own Parade! Hope everyone had a happy Fourth of July!

One Fish, Two Fish

Monday Aurora started her first swimming class with Mommy. I don't know who enjoys it more, me or her!
Her best friends, Keira and Allyse are in the class too!
Best of all, it's taught by my cousin, Kayleen and it's looks like Aurora is going to grow up to be a swimmer, just like her! She has no fear of the water, going down the slide head first and sticking her face under the water. This is Aurora running away because the hardest part is getting her out!

Guilty

While visiting with my sister yesterday, Aurora disappeared for a while. When I found her, she had climbed up on the table and raided a box of donuts. And what did she say? "YUMMY!" Sorry Annie, I hope there was only one left.
